Ever since the early 1990s, popular cosmetics brand NARS has offered a vast range of luxury beauty products that are well-known for their high-performance formulas and amazing colours & tones.
In fact, NARS foundations are not only the brand’s most highly sought after products, but they have gained recognition as one of the world’s leading foundation products.
Available in a variety of formulas and created to help with different skin types, NARS foundation products are lightweight, natural-looking and are ideal for when you don’t want to wear too much makeup.
But given the wide variety of options available to you, where do you begin to choose the right one for you? Especially if you have dry skin? Wonder no more.
Below we’ve included a number of elements to consider when choosing the right NARS foundation for your skin type.

Skin Type
To begin with, it’s important to remember that not all NARS foundations will work for every skin type.
Our recommendation is to choose one that can help your skin look its best for every occasion.
Oily Skin – needs a foundation that can absorb any excess oil and give you enough coverage to conceal any blemishes you might have.
Dry Skin – if you have dry skin, we’d recommend getting yourself a hydrating foundation. Just make sure that whichever foundation you do choose doesn’t have a matte finish that will make your dry patches more prominent.
For dry skin, we’d recommend the NARS Radiant Longwear Foundation.
Normal Skin – neither oily or dry, normal skin is compatible with nearly any NARS foundation.
Combination Skin – we’d recommend the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation as it’s oil-free and has hydrating ingredients.
Mature Skin – this is similar to dry skin but with fine lines and wrinkles. We’d recommend a NARS foundation that comes with a dewy or luminous finish that doesn’t make the texture of your skin more prominent. Something such as All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation should work wonders for your skin.

Coverage
Similar to all foundations, NARS foundations differ with respect to the type of coverage they’re able to provide you. We’d recommend choosing a foundation that includes a formula in line with the level of discoloration you want to cover.
We’ve included some types of coverage below for you to consider when choosing your foundation from NARS.
Sheer-Coverage – works well in evening out your skin tone
Light-Coverage – effective in covering minor blemishes and hide spots that aren’t too dark
Medium-Coverage – can conceal dark tones and hide even the smallest of blemishes
Full-Coverage – as the name suggests, this can cover every blemish and discoloration. They can appear quite heavy upon application, so we’d recommend only using a full-coverage foundation for special occasions.

Formula
The next element to consider when choosing a foundation product from NARS is formula. The great thing is that this quality cosmetics brand offers many different formulas suitable for a variety of skin types.
Liquid Foundations – they’re incredibly easy to blend and are available in a number of coverage options. Suitable for many skin types, liquid foundations are less messy when applying but this also means they can spill easily.
Stick Foundations – these foundations are ideal for when you’re out and about, and are less messy than liquid foundations. They can be somewhat hydrating and are suitable for oily skin.
Powder Foundations – typically pressed powders, these are ideal for small touch-ups and when you’re on the go. If you have dry or mature skin, we’d recommend not using this formula type.
Tinted Moisturisers – not as pigmented as your usual foundations, tinted moisturisers are lightweight on your skin and convey a sheen look. These are ideal on those days when you don’t want to wear too much makeup.

Finish
Finally, the last element to consider when choosing your NARS foundation is the finish. Again, consider the best one for your skin type.
Natural – as the name suggests, it helps resemble natural skin. If you have a combination skin type, this is the foundation finish for you.
Dewy – can reflect a significant amount of light which will give your skin an amazing, healthy glow. Ideal for those of you who have dry or mature skin.
Matte – this is the perfect finish for those of you with oily skin as it won’t reflect any light. They also tend to last longer.
