Creating Long Eyelashes Without Needing to Fake It

Let’s be honest – we’ve all wanted long eyelashes at some point or another in our life. They’re highly sought after and if they are natural then all the better. There really is something truly feminine about long eyelashes that reminds us of Hollywood actresses from a bygone era such as Audrey Hepburn.

But what about those people who want long eyelashes but want them to look as natural as possible? That’s what we’re here to discuss in this blog. There was a time when recreating such a look would have required the use of false lashes.

However, using the right lash care and mascara products can help you avoid doing that and give your eyelashes the desired length and thickness.

Opting for products and brands such as Jane Iredale that come with natural & nourishing ingredients go a long way to strengthening and lengthening your eyelashes.

Treat your eyelashes like you would your hair in the sense that you condition your hair to keep it healthy and to promote growth. So, what are some of the other tips and tricks you can use to create beautiful looking eyelashes without the need for falsies?

Curling Them Correctly

It’s well-known that curling your eyelashes can and will make them look longer and thicker.

However, we’ve found that many people who use makeup tend not to use their eyelash curler correctly and end up with a result that they don’t want.

Curling your eyelashes correctly starts with making sure that your eyelashes are dry, clean and not coated with mascara.

Be sure to look downward and clamp your eyelash curler firmly onto the base of your eyelashes but without getting too close to your eyelid.

Clamp the base of your eyelashes in a straight line to ensure an even curl as a result.

Lining the Rims

This is one of our favourite suggestions for when you are trying to make your eyelashes look longer and thicker.

Line the lower and upper rims of your eyelids with eyeliner and it will give you that desired result.

A stick eyeliner is all that you will need but make sure it matches the colour of your chosen mascara.

Next, swipe it onto the upper rim of your eyelid and your lower waterline and voila! Your top and bottom eyelashes will now appear thicker and more voluminous.

Apply Baby Powder

It might sound like an odd suggestion, but trust us when we say that baby powder will absolutely increase the length and thickness of your eyelashes.

But before you start applying baby powder on your eyelashes, be sure to start with two coatings of mascara primer in order to add moisture to your lashes. This will allow the baby powder to stick to them without it falling onto your face or into your eyes!

Actually applying the baby powder is fairly easy and requires you to coat a q-tip in the powder and roll it on a paper towel to remove any excess. Look downward to prevent it from getting into your eyes, and then swipe the q-tip onto your lashes from the base to the tip.

Let it dry for approximately a minute and then apply a coat of mascara to your eyelashes until the baby powder is completely covered by the mascara. These are just some of the ways you can get those eyelashes looking thicker and longer without resorting to fake lashes.

Always consider using products that come with natural and nourishing ingredients to ensure you get the voluminous look that you want.
